Mahur is amongst the four Shaktipeethas having the abodes of the goddess Shakti, the other three being Kolhapur, Tuljapur, and Saptashringi. There are many old temples here, as well as the one strategically important Ramgad Fort. Located on a hill top temple of Renukadevi is devoted goddess Renuka, mother of Shree Parshuram The Dattatray and Parshuram temples are famous. One can find carvings in the caves in the hills near by. Thick forests full of wild animals and beautiful view of valleys and waterfall in rainy season from the temple are also the attractions.
