This sanctuary is spread over 260.61 sq. km. in Kannad (Aurangabad Dist.) & Chalisgaon (Jalgoan dist.) in a bowl shaped densely forested hilly terrain located on the Satmala hills.Rapidwaterfalls here make Gautala a special attraction for picnics. Pithalkhora-  ancient Buddhist cave temples, Fort, Seeta Nhani, Patna Devi Temple,  Kamaleshwara Mahadeo Temple are nearby attractions.
