Kalasubai is the highest peak of Sahyadri mountain range. (ht 5,500 feet/ 1646 m)) always a challenge to trekkers.
The forested hills between Kalasubai to Harischandragad is the sanctuary rich with rare trees with medicinal properties.
Fascinating variety of birds, water birds, mammals, and reptiles, like Leopard, Jungle cat, Mongoose, Hyena, Palm civet, Wolf, Jackal, Fox, Wild Boar, Barking Deer, Sambar, Hare, Bats and even Indian Giant Squirrel and Porcupine and reptiles like Monitor Lizard, Fan-Throated Lizard, Turtles and are found here.
This sanctuary with peaks, forts and temples makes it a trekker`s paradise.
Best Season: August To December
By Rail : Nearest Station Ghoti (Mumbai - Bhusaval line) on (N. H.- 3.) Mumbai Agra Hoghway.
By Road :The nearest bus station: Bhandardara. Reach village “Bari†on Igatpuri Bhandardara road, at height of approx. 3000 feet to ascend the peak taking a chained way or a cattle-trail.
North of the peak can be attained through village Indorey with the help of two iron ladders raised.
