Famous for ` Shri Ram Temple`  built on the banks of river  ` Maand ` by Saint Ramdas Swami -(spiritual guru of King Shivaji ),  Chaphal is a historically important small village in Satara district.

Chaphal is known  for the Rama Temple and two Maruti Temples installed by Saint Swami Ramdas. On the devine instructions of Lord Rama, Swami Ramdas retrived the The idol of ` Lord Surya ` from Angapur Pond and installed the same in this temple. The Idol  without bow and holding Lotus in both hands which was worshiped by saint Ramdas Swami as `Lord Ram`. Ramdas Swami installed 11 Maruti temples in Maharashtra, 7 of them are in the vicinity of Chaphal.

Temple comprises of "Dhyana Gumpha" (Mediation Cave) where Shivaji Maharaj and Sayeamarth Ramdas Swami used to meet.

In front of Shri Ram Temple is the Temple of Lord Das Maruti and at the rear side is Veer Maruti (Pratap Maruti) temple housing 8 ft tall idol of Lord Hanuman, weairng ornaments as described in the Hanuman Stotra.
Reputed marathi Poet "kavi Yashawant" was borne here.
