Hyderabad Back
Hyderabad is the capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangan States. It was built by King of Golkonda as capital in 1591. Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah, built Charminar in 1591 with four minarets of height of 48.7 m and a mosque, also 45 prayer spaces in it. Illuminated in the evenings this is open 9 am – 5.30 pm.
Mecca Masjid: Built by Qutb Shah with the bricks brought from Mecca was completed by Aurangzeb in 1694.
Laad Baazar: shopping center on one of the streets to Charminar is famous for traditional bangles, pearls and bridal wear.
Golconda Fort: originally a mud fort, rebuilt by Qutb Shahi kings, over a span of 6 decades, is famous for its acoustics, palaces, ingenious water supply system and the Fateh Rahben gun. Sound & Light Show brings to life glory and grandeur of this unique fort.
Salar Jung Museum : 10 am – 5 pm (Friday Closed) biggest collections of Persian carpets, Moghal miniatures, Chinese porcelain, Japanese lacquer ware, antiques of Salar Jung III., famous statues, jade, daggers belonging to Queen Noor Jahan, Emperors Jahangir and Shah Jahan, Aurangzeb’s sword enchants the visitors.
Andhra Pradesh State Archaeological Museum built by the Nizam VII in 1920 in Public Gardens, is an attraction for art-lovers Other attractions are State Legislature, Jubilee Hall, Jawahar Bal Bhavan and an open-air theater Telugu Lalita Kala Thoranam.
Nizam‘S Silver Jubilee Museum: Purani Haveli, the palace of the second Nizam, is now converted into a museum with a fascinating collection of vintage cars, silver models of all the prominent buildings of the city.
Chow Mohalla Palace: four palaces in Moghal and European styles, with double storeyed main palace.
Nehru Zoological Park: (Monday Closed) Spread over 300 acres, it has over 250 species of animals and birds, kept in conditions like their natural habitats. This is the first zoo to create moated enclosures for animals. Boating facilities available at Mir Alam Tank adjacent to the Park.
Shilparamam:The Art s & Crafts Village spread over 30-acre situated at Madhapur is famous for arts and crafts of the country and the annual bazaars. Nearby is Hitec City- nucleus of Cyberabad, the IT destination.
Hussainsagar Lake: with a paved public walk that is a busy thoroughfare today, attracts tourists for Boating and water sports, speed boats, motor boats, 48 seater launch with Starlit dinner on-board. Nearby attractions are NTR Gardens, Necklace Road, Tank Bund, Sanjeevaiah Park, Prasads Multiplex, Lumbini Park.
Osmansagar:known as Gandipet, on the outskirts of the city is one of the two lakes on the city’s periphery that supplies drinking water to the great metropolis. Surrounding are lush gardens, heritage building Sagar Mahal, lake resort managed by AP Tourism.
Chilkur Balaji Temple:located at Chilkur 33 Kms away from Mehdipatnam,this temple attracts thousands of pilgrims every year, abount 75,000 to 1,00,000 a week.
KBR National Park: with over 100 species of birds, 20 species of reptiles and 15 species of butterflies ; Mrugavani National Park: at Chilkur28 km. is an urban refuge for birds, mammals like wildboar, jungle cat etc.; Mahavir Harina Vanasthali National Park: 15 Km. houses 350 black bucks, 400 cheetals and a number of wild boars, small mammals, reptiles and over 100 species of birds.
Hyderabad Botanical Gardens: spanning over 120 acres, has sections for medicinal plants, timber trees, fruit trees, ornamental plants, aquatic plants and bamboos. with large water bodies, Meadows and rock formations.
Shamirpet:24 km north of Secunderabad, is a beautiful lake and a deer park.It has comfortable cottage facilities, forest lodges which can be booked with the AP Forest Department office at Saifabad.
